Johnny Depp attended his first UK premiere last night in London since his very public court case with Amber Heard.

Depp’s new film, Jeanne Du Barry, a small French film directed by Maïwenn premiered in London last night.

The Sweeney Todd star was completely swarmed by fans as soon as he stepped onto the red carpet and happily signed autographs for those who had gathered to meet him.

Although Depp was all smiles, many were surprised to see his yellowing teeth which were unlike the bright Hollywood smile many of us have become accustomed to seeing on screen.

Much like when this film premiered at Cannes, Johnny Depp’s ‘rotten’ teeth stole the limelight and fans flooded social media to express concern about the star’s dental hygiene.

Depp dressed in a grey suit for this event and had his long locks trimmed back for an upcoming new Dior campaign, for which he is the face of their popular fragrance, Sauvage.

This film is another first for the actor, who plays Louis XV, the King of France in the film, as it marks the first time he will be performing in French.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star explained to reporters at the event that his ex-wife was French and his children also speak French, which encouraged him to develop his skills and take the role.

‘For me, I felt like because my girl – the mother of my kiddies – is French so my children are half French,’ he said.

‘And I’ve been speaking a kind of – I don’t know – the French of maybe a hobo – for many years, basically just getting by by learning the slang of the streets and stuff.’

This is Johnny’s first film since being dropped from the Fantastic Beasts franchise back in 2020. The star was dropped after a court case in the UK with his ex-wife concluded that he had assaulted her.

The actor seemed to reference his lengthy court appearances in his US defamation case with his ex-wife Amber in one moment on stage.

When introducing the film he said of director, Maïwenn: ‘She had great courage to take me into her cast.’

Speaking previously to the Hollywood Reporter, the star rebuffed claims that this film was his ‘comeback’, arguing that he hadn’t gone anywhere for the past few years.

Depp said: ‘I keep wondering about the word “comeback,” because I didn’t go anywhere.

‘Maybe people stopped calling – out of whatever their fear was at the time – but I didn’t go nowhere.

‘I’ve been sitting around. ‘Comeback’ is almost like I’m going to come out and do a tap dance – dance my best and hope you approve. That’s the notion. It’s a bizarre mystery.’
