We all have exes we’d rather forget about and for Julia Fox her one month relationship with Kanye West has left a ‘sour taste’ in her mouth.

Julia, 34, dated the 46-year-old rapper in 2022 for a whirlwind one month romance before he married Bianca Censori, 29.

Kanye, or Ye, has been the source of much controversy over the past few years, including regarding the way his wife dresses — thought to be under his instruction.

His ex has not minced her words when it comes to the Yeezy founder, making it clear on repeated occasions that she feels she dodged a bullet.

Giving some clarity as to why she feels so strongly, in a new interview the Uncut Gems star said: ‘Dating that man for a month—one month. That’s why I have such a sour taste in my mouth about dating anyone in this sphere because I don’t ever want to just be known as someone’s girlfriend.’

At the time, Julia had just split with Peter Artemiev who she shares her three-year-old son with while Ye had divorced Kim Kardashian.

To InStyle magazine, the Down the Drain singer continued: ‘I know I’m so much more than that and I feel like that happens so much to women in this industry. They’re only as good as their partner or they can make a whole career off being some guy’s partner but regardless, either way, it becomes their identity.’

She believes avoiding dating someone who is already in the industry allows her to ‘transcend’ being someone’s partner and ‘break that mould’.

‘I want to just stand on my own two feet and not need a man to back me,’ Julia added. ‘I did that for years. I’m good. I have established myself, and I want to keep establishing myself and maybe one day I’ll even be taken seriously.’

Previously, the actress has called Ye a ‘baby’ and said the relationship was ‘overwhelming’ as she juggled motherhood and dating.

She emphasised that her main priority will always be Valentino, her son, over her romantic entanglements with ‘The Artist’ in her memoir Down The Drain.

Julia previously admitted that she went ‘very lightly’ on the details surrounding their fling in her book, as she didn’t want any bad blood with the Grammy-winner.

From January to February 2023, Julia says she was randomly presented with racks of clothing during dates and asked to change.

This reduced the star to feeling like a ‘show monkey’ as she even said Ye offered her a boob job, which was turned down.

The romance ended almost abruptly as it started with Ye’s assistant reportedly calling her up to let her know he was heading on a month long phone break.

Julie added: ‘[I was] being used as a pawn in this grand master plan to get back at his ex-wife. That’s humiliating.’
