Fun Fact: Jude Law Crushed Holiday Dreams With Behind-the-Scenes âThe Holidayâ Reveal
In a Nov. 24, 2024, interview with BBC Radio, the actor revealed a surprising behind-the-scenes truth about the beloved 2006 Christmas rom-com âThe Holiday,â in which he starred alongside Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.
Law, who played Winsletâs brother and Diazâs romantic interest in the film, expressed his fondness for the movieâs legacy. âI find it just, honestly, glorious,â he said.
But the magic hit a bump when one of the hosts asked, âYou think we could Airbnb that cottage?â â referring to the cozy English countryside home belonging to Winsletâs character, Iris.
âThat cottage doesnât exist,â Law responded, sending the hosts into audible shock. âOooh, yeah,â he added with a smile.
One interviewer exclaimed, âThatâs my dream home!â echoing what many fans have believed for nearly two decades. Law then explained why the picturesque cottage was never REAL.
âSo the director, sheâs a bit of a perfectionist,â he said, referring to filmmaker Nancy Meyers. âShe toured that whole area and didnât quite find the chocolate box cottage sheâs looking for,â he added. âSo she just [rented] a field, and drew it and had someone build it.â
The fact that these stories still resonate today proves the lasting popularity of this beloved classic.
