Kylie Jenner has divided the internet with her latest TikTok that fans have branded ‘so out of touch it’s actually funny’.
The youngest Kar-Jenner sister — who boasts a net worth of $670 million, while her family are estimated to be worth nearly $3 billion — shared a house tour video on the social media platform, and people can’t believe the wealth disparity.
Set to Sabrina Carpenter’s double entendre-littered track ‘House Tour,’ Kylie took her 59.8 million followers around a sprawling mansion, thought to be either one of the family’s Palm Springs homes, or an Airbnb rented out for Coachella.
Complete with a private basketball court, mirrored lift, and a cinema room (we’ll get to the infinity pool later), the huge property looked like something from Selling Sunset.
Right from the start, Kylie showed viewers the scale of the estate. Casually pulling up to a massive indoor-outdoor living space in a golf cart, the camera panned to show chic furniture, spotlights, and statement plants designed to add a botanical feel to the place.
As she walked through the Scandi-style space, where we counted at least five cream and grey lounge suites, Kylie proudly directed viewers towards a turquoise infinity pool.
There, TikTokkers got a glimpse of multiple cream sunloungers perfectly positioned poolside, and looking out onto the sweeping California mountains.
The next stop on the tour was in said lift, which took the reality star to the aforementioned sports area. The camera cut once again to the private cinema, where Kylie leaned against earth tone soft furnishings in front of a huge screen playing an old Justin Bieber music video.
(This was clearly in honour of Justin’s Saturday night Coachella set, which drew controversy in its own way.)
Finally, Kylie headed back outside to catch some rays on a large covered patio that provided more epic views of the Palm Springs mountainous scenery.
Leaning back against an opaque balcony, she looked well and truly like she was living her best rich girl life.
It’s no surprise, then, that the video generated a lot of backlash, with the majority of commenters calling the tour ‘tone deaf’ and ‘dystopian.’
One person even went so far as to say they were ‘watching from District 12,’ the smallest, poorest district in The Hunger Games.
‘Can we stop idolizing rich people? This video is so out of touch considering the world situation,’ one person penned, while another said: ‘No one should be this rich.’
Elsewhere, someone else said that they ‘hope [they] never get this rich so [they] never get this out of touch,’ as a fourth person echoed: ‘So out of touch it’s actually funny.’
It wasn’t all scathing comments, though. Others saw the funnier side of the situation, joking that Kylie can only afford this luxe lifestyle because ‘Kim made a tape.’
Meanwhile, another user joked: ‘I never want to hear that money doesn’t buy happiness again.’
This isn’t the first time Kylie has shared snippets of her growing property portfolio.
For those who quite literally keep up with the Kardashians, you’ll know that her 30,000-square-foot Hidden Hills mega-mansion is almost complete.
After purchasing land from Miley Cyrus for $15 million in May 2020, the estate — which features 15 bedrooms, an underground 12-car garage, a sports court, swimming pool and an underground bunker — has been the subject of many Instagram stories since.
From sharing work-in-progress shots of her ‘dream two-storey closet,’ to a peek inside her kitchen that will make you green with envy, it’s clear that no expense has been spared.
