Last One Laughing fans think ‘it’s almost unfair’ one comedian is taking part

Last One Laughing is a real test for even the most deadpan comedians.

Diane Morgan, queen of straight-faced satire, buckled halfway through the second instalment of the Amazon Prime Video show, after winner David Mitchell made her crack.

With the third season line-up just announced, fans are casting their predictions about how they think it will all pan out – who will last and who will be the first to go?

As has been the case previously, a couple comics are back who proved memorable when they were last on the show. But some fans fear that one returning jokester is so talented that he will make it ‘almost unfair’ for the rest of the cast.

Richard Ayoade came second in the inaugural season, proving impossible to catch out until Bob Mortimer got him with a joke about his mother dealing arms – swords, specifically.

He’ll be starring again, alongside Katherine Parkinson, Lee Mack and Harry Hill, but his participation has received a mixed reaction.

On Reddit, malin7 said: ‘Very glad to see Richard back, probably my favourite contestant out of both seasons.’

However, not everyone is as positive… Younevershouldnt thinks it isn’t good news for the rest of the comedians and claimed he’s the ‘Usain Bolt of poker faces’.

They professed: ‘I dunno, he’s so good at this, it’s almost unfair on the others.’

In response, MonkeysOOOTBottle even questioned Bob’s win in 2025, suggesting Richard gave it to him, when in reality he could’ve stuck it out and taken the trophy.

Mel Giedroyc, who got very close to the end with David in the last competition, will be back on the series – but this time, she’ll be in the control room with host Jimmy Carr.

Instead, Roisin Conaty is leaving her spot on the sofa where she gleefully watches the contestants squirm, and is entering the comedic lion’s den.

She’ll be up against the likes of Morgana Robinson, Jon Richardson and Katherine Ryan.

Also playing for the winning title will be stand-ups Michelle de Swarte, who wrote and starred in the BBC series Spent, and Josh Jones, who is a Dancing on Ice alum and describes himself as an ‘aspiring house husband from Manchester’ on Instagram.

Last One Laughing will return to Prime Video in 2027.
