âSaturday Night Liveâ writer Jimmy Fowlie, whose sister, Christina Lynn Downer, has not been heard from since late 2025, issued an update on April 29, saying that the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Downer is “no longer alive.”
However, the LAPD are now denying this, saying that it is still an ongoing investigation.
“Robbery-Homicide Division continues to investigate the disappearance of Christina Downer,” authorities said in a statement to TMZ. “Although the circumstances of her disappearance are suspicious, Ms. Downer has not been located, and her case has not been reclassified as a homicide. RHD will diligently investigate this case until a resolution can be reached.â
Fowlie first made the public aware of his sister’s disappearance in December 2025, sharing a post with a public plea for help locating her. At the time, the LAPD said she was last reached through a text message by a friend on December 10. Her last known location was Koreatown, but “She has not been seen or heard from since,â they said.

“The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from being a missing person to a homicide investigation,” he began. “Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.”
He added that they “have reason to believe that in the weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media were compromised.”
According to Fowlie, the person in possession of her phone hid that she was missing, instead asking for money and creating a “false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid.’”
In sharing her story, Fowlie hopes to tell it as well as encourage anyone who might know anything to come forward.
“My sister can no longer advocate for herself, but I can and I hope you will too,” he concluded. “The best wya you could support me in this moment is to share this post and to talk about her story. Thank you.”
