A Love Is Blind UK couple whose entire romance was cut from the show have revealed they’re still engaged a year later.
Sammy Harper and Jon Harrold found love while filming the third series of the Netflix dating experiment, getting engaged without ever seeing one another after forming a connection in the pods.
But viewers haven’t seen a second of it.
While six couples made the final edit, an extraordinary 14 actually became engaged during filming, with producers ultimately forced to abandon eight storylines because there simply wasn’t room to follow them all.
Sammy and Jon were among those told their Love Is Blind journey wouldn’t continue just 48 hours after getting engaged.
However, one slight problem remained: they were still very much into each other.
A producer, with Sammy’s permission, passed her phone number to Jon and suddenly the pair had to decide whether their relationship existed without Netflix arranging the dates, holidays, and eventual wedding.
‘Our Love Is Blind journey was over. Our actual relationship? Well… that was entirely up to us,’ they explained on Instagram, sharing screenshots of the first messages they exchanged outside the experiment.
In September 2025, the pair finally saw each other face-to-face before immediately putting their unusual relationship to another test: going on holiday together.
They booked a trip to Málaga to ‘figure out if we actually liked each other’, and returned to the UK still secretly engaged.
Without a production crew orchestrating their next move, however, life became considerably less glamorous.
Living on opposite sides of the country, they began squeezing in dates wherever possible while attempting to work out how two people who had become engaged before meeting could suddenly become a ‘normal couple’.
Two months later came the potentially awkward task of introducing their mystery fiancé to their respective families, which they admitted required ‘a lot of explaining’.
By February, their relationship had taken another major step when they adopted a dog, appropriately named Poddy in tribute to the bizarre circumstances of his parents’ meeting.
‘Somewhere along the way, we stopped feeling like two people who met on Love Is Blind,’ they explained.
‘Suddenly it was less “experiment” and more “whose turn is it to pick up the dog s***?” Turns out we quite liked our very unTV-worthy little life.’
Their relationship was tested in a far more painful way several months later.
Sammy discovered she was pregnant in April, with the couple describing themselves as ‘completely over the moon’ by the news.
Tragically, she suffered a miscarriage in June.
They said grieving while continuing their long-distance relationship became ‘one of the hardest things we’ve had to face together’, but they gradually began feeling like themselves again and found the experience had brought them closer.
Now, almost a year after getting engaged to someone they couldn’t see, Sammy and Jon can finally publicly acknowledge that they’re still together.
‘We didn’t get picked to continue on Love Is Blind. At the time, that felt like the end of our story,’ they wrote.
‘Turns out, it was the beginning of the best bit. No cameras. No experiment. No guarantees. We just kept choosing each other.’
And they’re apparently the only one of Love Is Blind UK’s eight invisible couples who did.
Speaking on The Sun’s Showbiz Fix podcast, Sammy revealed the other relationships ended remarkably quickly after filming.
‘I think they maybe lasted two days,’ she said.
Jon acknowledged how difficult the transition could be after watching what he believed were genuinely strong couples form inside the experiment.
‘It is such a whirlwind,’ he said, explaining he could understand why someone might suddenly emerge from the pods and wonder: ‘We’re engaged? Who are you? What is going on?’
Sammy agreed that returning to everyday life was surreal, particularly because contestants weren’t able to tell everyone what had happened.
After spending two weeks falling in love with little more than someone’s voice, she suddenly found herself back at work with a secret fiancé and no idea whether the extraordinary experience would translate to reality.
‘You genuinely feel mental,’ she admitted. ‘You’ve just got this fiancé [and it’s like], “Oh my God, I can’t even speak about him.” And you’re just living this second life.’
For most of the couples whose engagements didn’t make Netflix, that second life proved short-lived.
Sammy and Jon, meanwhile, simply carried on – through long-distance dates, meeting the parents, getting a dog, devastating loss and all the distinctly untelevised mundanity of an actual relationship.
Love Is Blind may have decided their story wasn’t going to make the show, but nearly a year later, the ‘unseen couple’ seemingly forgot they were supposed to leave the experiment behind and ended up proving its premise anyway.
