In a moment of British TV madness, ITV’s Kate Garraway toppled off her chair after Mr Blobby fell over on Good Morning Britain (GMB).

No, this isn’t a heat-induced fever dream – the incident occurred on Friday morning and viewers have called it ‘hilarious’.

During the breakfast TV programme, Mr Blobby, who first appeared on BBC show Noel’s House Party in 1992, made an appearance.

He featured on GMB to interact with the presenters, as Richard Arnold explained the costume is up for auction.

After the pink and yellow spotty character waddled on stage, he instantly fell over, causing Richard to shout ‘health and safety’!

Speaking in his own special language, Mr Blobby began sitting on Richard’s lap before he moved over to Kate and toppled onto his front, bringing the I’m A Celebrity star down with him.

The presenter was in good humour as she laughed, telling him: ‘Don’t worry […] Lean on me, I’m a bit of a Blobby myself.’

The scenes of carnage provided entertainment for those watching at home, with Elaine on X writing: ‘You just made my morning with Mr Blobby.’

Bev H made reference to the hot weather, saying: ‘I’m considering how much money I’d have to be paid to put that suit on today and it’s a lot!’

While Marc Wilson called him a ‘nutcase’, Sarah asked: Does anybody find Mr Blobby funny??? He is the most annoying thing EVER.’

Before Mr Blobby went wild, Richard had been explaining that his costume is ‘expected to fetch up to £5,000’ when it goes under the hammer.

He went on: ‘It’s one of three Blobbys and was mainly used at the Somerset theme park Blobbyland, where I always feel at home. But what does he think of his birthday suit being sold?’

The 90s icon then appeared on set and was predictably chaotic as he conversed with Richard and Kate – Ranvir Singh watched on with her head in her hands.

Auctioneer Andy Stowe told the BBC: ‘This is the very costume that brought Blobby-mania to millions of people. If you ever saw footage of Mr Blobby wreaking havoc outside the studio, it was in this very costume.’

He went on: ‘It’s not just a costume, it’s a piece of pure British comedy history. An absolute once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of pure 90s nostalgia.

‘Love him or loathe him, you cannot ignore him. Mr Blobby is a national phenomenon, and this costume is the holy grail for anyone who grew up rushing to the TV on a Saturday night.’

The bid will take place on June 29 in Bristol.

Good Morning Britain returns on Monday at 6am.
