Woman, 26, dies after two boats crash overnight in Monroe Harbor; several others hurt

A West Loop woman who was among 14 people aboard two boats who were rescued has died after the boats crashed in Monroe Harbor.

The collision happened a few minutes before midnight, according to the Chicago fire department.

The woman who died was identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Johanna H. Gregory, 26, who lived in the West Loop.

Three other people were in serious to critical condition at hospitals, and a fifth was in fair condition, all suffering injuries from the crash, the fire department said.
