New The Witcher spin-off in development claims report but not for consoles

Another game set in The Witcher universe is in development according to reports, and it isn’t Project Sirius.

Between The Witcher 4, The Witcher 1 remake and the recently announced expansion for The Witcher 3, fans of Geralt and Ciri are set to be well served over the coming years.

Developer CD Projekt has even more games in the oven than that, all set within Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy universe The Witcher 4 is the start of a brand new trilogy, but there’s also multiplayer spin-off Project Sirius.

However, it seems this isn’t the only multiplayer spin-off in development, as a report has seemingly outed another unannounced project.

According to MP1st, a free-to-play co-op action role-player set within The Witcher universe is in development. While this sounds similar to Project Sirius, this unannounced title is said to be targeting only PC and mobile, and not consoles.

It’s claimed the game takes place in the year 1230, at a time when Geralt was still a young witcher. You’ll apparently be able to create and customise your own witcher in the title, with the main loop revolving around taking on monster-killing contracts across different environments.

While the report doesn’t confirm which studio is behind the title, it’s speculated that it could be mobile developer Scopely, who formed a partnership with CD Projekt in March 2025. Scopely is best known for Monopoly Go! and for publishing titles like Star Trek Fleet Command.

The Witcher series has dabbled in mobile spin-offs in the past, including Gwent and the short-lived The Witcher Battle Arena, but none of them have taken off in any significant way. If Scopely is behind this title then, CD Projekt might be aiming for an equivalent to Pokémon Go.

When will we next see The Witcher 4?

Despite being announced in 2022, we haven’t seen any actual proper gameplay footage from The Witcher 4. There was a cinematic reveal trailer and an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo but, as confirmed by CD Projekt, the latter wasn’t actually from the game.

It’s unclear when we’ll next see anything from The Witcher 4, but with a new expansion for The Witcher 3 set to launch next year, it’s likely we’ll see more from that before any proper first look at the sequel.

The expansion, titled Songs Of The Past, is very likely to be unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 26, since CD Projekt has used the event before and they said the next time they’ll talk about the DLC will be in the late summer.

The Witcher 4 likely won’t be shown until after Songs Of The Past is out, but that could mean The Game Awards in December is a possibility – even if next year is more likely.
