Pokémon Pokopia and ports of FireRed and LeafGreen have been big hits, as Nintendo shares sales figures for its latest titles.
Nintendo’s announcement of a Switch 2 price hike may have stolen the limelight, but the company has plenty of reason to celebrate this week, based on its latest sales figures.
Switch 2 console sales have surpassed 19.86 million units, an increase of 2.49 million from the last quarter. The impending price increase means Nintendo is expecting to sell less consoles next year, with projections at 16.5 million for the next financial year, but the company is projecting a 23.2% increase when it comes to Switch 2 software sales.
Whether they reach those targets remains to be seen, but various Pokémon games have been especially strong so far, in 2026.
According to Nintendo’s financial report for the period ending March 31, 2026, Pokémon Pokopia has sold over four million units worldwide in just five weeks. This is especially impressive as it’s a Switch 2 exclusive, whose userbase is currently quite small. Four million sales means a fifth of all Switch 2 owners have already bought a copy of the game.
Similarly, sales of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, which were digital-only ports released on Switch to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, have also exceeded four million sales. While Nintendo indicated there were no plans to release other Pokémon games in the same way, outside of its Nintendo Switch Online service, these figures might spur them to do so.

Elsewhere, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sold 12.79 million copies in total, since it launched in October. On the original Switch, it has sold 8.85 million, whereas the Switch 2 Edition has racked up 3.94 million. Its predecessor Pokémon Legends: Arceus sold 14.83 million copies after a year, so it’s well on its way to surpassing it.
Outside of Pokémon, Nintendo has another hit in Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream. The social simulation game has sold a massive 3.8 million units within two weeks. It’s hugely popular in Japan, but this suggests it’s done pretty well in other regions too, as it recently returned to the number one spot in the UK charts.
There are some notable omissions in terms of updates. Mario Tennis Fever isn’t mentioned at all, which suggests it may have underperformed. Likewise, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which surpassed one million in combined sales in February, isn’t mentioned either.
At the moment, the biggest-selling game on Switch 2 is, unsurprisingly, Mario Kart World, with 14.7 million units sold. This is followed by Donkey Kong Bananza at 4.52 million.
Nintendo has a strong line-up on the near horizon, between Yoshi And The Mysterious Book, Star Fox, and Splatoon Raiders. However, it’s hard to see any of those doing Pokémon numbers, but if a remake of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is planned for Christmas, we imagine that’ll pick up the slack.
