Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid has revealed exactly what her former co-host Piers Morgan thinks of the ITV show as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

It’s somehow been a decade since the morning news programme was launched by the broadcaster, with stars including Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins there from the start.

In 2015, it was announced that Piers would also be joining the team, with his tenure lasting until his explosive exit in 2021.

The 59-year-old quit his role shortly after storming off set on live TV over an argument with weatherman Alex Beresford about Meghan Markle.

Three years later, Susanna, 53, has shared that she and Piers are ‘still friends’ – and that he still catches up with the latest conversations on the programme.

‘I am still friends with Piers. We were doing a story about potholes last week. I got a text from Piers saying: “You are currently filming in the car park next to my home in Sussex. I can tell you personally what the potholes are like.” So he still watches and tells me what he thinks,’ she told The Mirror.

‘And, look, we are personally still very connected. He played a massive part in our show’s success. I’ve got a huge amount to thank him for. He made me a better broadcaster.

‘He toughened me up. I didn’t just go on air and spar with the guests, I sparred with Piers.’

This morning on Monday, April 29, Piers commemorated the 10th anniversary of Good Morning Britain by sharing a selfie on X of himself with Susanna from the first time that they ever worked together on the show.

‘8.30am on our first ever ⁦@GMB⁩ morning working together.. ⁦@susannareid100⁩ looks traumatised. 🤣🤣,’ he captioned the photo.

Susanna reshared the picture, writing: ‘Happy Anniversary!’

In her interview, Susanna also gave shoutouts to the presenters who she currently hosts Good Morning Britain with on a regular basis, Richard Madeley and Ed Balls.

She praised former Labour MP Ed for knowing ‘everything about how the political system works’.

Discussing Richard, she said that he has ‘boundless enthusiasm’, before adding: ‘He’s just so interested in everything, just has such energy. And is a unique broadcaster, I think we would acknowledge.’

Ed, 57, and Richard, 67, have both been on GMB since 2022, co-hosting the programme on a fortnightly basis with Susanna.

Kate Garraway, 56, hosts on Fridays and as an alternative on Thursdays, while Adil Ray also presents the show on Fridays.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6.30am on ITV1 and ITVX.
