Paloma Faith has revealed that leaving her husband Leyman Lahcine was actually the ‘best choice’ she has ever made.
The Traitor star and Leyman split in 2022, but it wasn’t until August 2023 that Paloma confirmed they had gone their separate ways.
They had first connected in 2013, keeping their relationship out of the spotlight as much as possible.
Now, the Picking Up The Pieces singer, 44, has revealed the positive side of ending that romantic relationship.
Speaking on her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast, she said: ‘Women feel like it’s their duty to stay and suffer for their kids. I think the relationship with my children’s dad that I got out of is amazing now.
‘Maybe in choosing to get out of the relationship in the romantic sense and into a relationship with him as a friendship and a co-parent was the best choice I ever made in hindsight because I think our relationship is better because of it ‘
In 2016, speaking to Sunday People, Paloma shared that she and Leyman were very similar people and rarely argued.
However, when they welcomed their two children into the world, their dynamic changed and they were no longer growing together.
In a devastating comment to the Independent, Paloma admitted their children were the reason for the break-up but said it was absolutely ‘worth it’.
Following the split, the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer described herself as a ‘broken woman’ and said the emotional turmoil had left her ‘dishevelled’.
However, it wasn’t all glum as she reportedly was ‘living her best life’ while at a Jonathan Ross party shortly after.
The pair now amicably co-parent their two daughters, who were born in 2016 and 2021, while Paloma revealed she is also expecting her third child.
In a surprise announcement, she wrote on Instagram: ‘Plot twist, mother is mothering (again).’
She has not revealed who the father of her third child is, however, earlier this year, it was reported that she was dating Stevie Thomas, the director of a music venue in Birmingham after he joined her at a Brit Awards afterparty.
Paloma admitted to being a ‘bit worried’ about being pregnant in her 40s, especially as she caught the flu earlier this month.
‘I couldn’t be more happy about another baby and I’m bracing myself for the storm….’ she penned on social media.
