If you didn’t think Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding could get any wilder, think again.
The NFL star is tying the knot with the global pop star over the weekend, kicking off the wedding festivities in time for American Independence Day – famous one of Taylor’s favourite holidays.
Fans are waiting with bated breath to see exactly what is going to go down at New York’s iconic arena, Madison Square Garden, as celebrities like Graham Norton jet in for one of the highest-profile weddings of the year.
Now, Travis has confirmed that Prince William himself will be appearing on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, which he shares with his fellow athlete brother, Jason Kelce.
The shock podcast cameo is made even more iconic by the fact that the Prince of Wales had previously joked about hoping to score a wedding invite while on Heart radio in May.
People most recently reported that the royal couple was not attending the wedding, although it remains to be seen, with the podcast renewing speculation that they could be part of the rumoured 1,000-person guest list.
Releasing at 5pm today, the teaser shows Jason saying: ‘Our guest today is the six-foot-three Prince from London, England.
‘That’s right, the President of the English Football Association, the Vice-Royal Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Cornwall, the Lord of the Isles, Prince and Great Steward of Scotland, Earl of Chester and the Prince of Wales, please welcome his Royal Highness, Prince William!’
Prince William shared his gratitude at the elaborate introduction, to which Jason added: ‘We had to do it big for you, had to do it big.’
It truly is American royalty meets British royalty as the cherry on top of the biggest weekend of Travis and Taylor’s three-year romance so far.
Notably, Prince William was seen shaking it out to the Blank Space hitmaker in June 2024 during her Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London to celebrate his 42nd birthday.
Later, a number of selfies of him and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, alongside Taylor and Travis, were uploaded to social media (which also marked the first time the Kansas City Chiefs player appeared on Taylor’s Instagram).
As for who is invited, alongside Graham, other famous faces spotted in New York include Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa and close friend Ed Sheeran.
Meanwhile, it has been rumoured that music legends Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are set to perform at the enigmatic event.
The exact plans for the wedding have been shrouded in mystery, but with Madison Square Garden and the surrounding area tightly shut down and a road permit taken out from July 2 to July 4, it is all but confirmed that it is the location of some sort of celebration related to the nuptials.
Crews have been spotted unloading trucks with signs reading ‘Garden Party’, as well as a box labelled ’40-inch mirrorball’.
Equipment, lights and more have been carted inside the venue, although most is disguised with wrappings and boxes.
Meanwhile, the celebrity couple made a whopping $26million (£19million) charitable donation divvied up between 20 charities across the United States.
Insiders have also claimed there have been rumblings of discontent among the Kansas City Chiefs’ lot over the invites.
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, everyone on the team received a ‘general invite’.
However: ‘It doesn’t extend to some of the front office people, so there’s some feelings there. And also, not everyone on the team has the same invite.’
We’ll just have to hope there’s no bad blood at the end of it!
