ITV star Andi Peters made quite the on-air blunder after totally blanking on who was anchoring Good Morning Britain.
On Thursday morning’s episode, Andi had chucked in the sunny Costa del Sol coastline for the considerably more local haunt of the Tower of London for his on-location competition segment, convincing viewers to try their hand at a mountain of money.
As he wrapped up his spiel, he threw the show back to his co-stars waiting patiently in the studio, when it all went wrong in a tragic moment of forgetfulness.
‘I’m off to St Paul’s Cathedral now. Ranvir and…’ he said, before hesitating as he tried to recall who Ranvir Singh was sharing the news desk with that day.
Talking over Ranvir, who was trying to save him with the answer, he asked into the ether: ‘Who’s on the show today?’ as the 40-year-old GMB presenter more loudly declared: ‘Adil’.
That’s when the man of the hour himself, Adil Ray, interjected with an outraged: ‘What?’, as he raised his hands in exasperation and shook his head in disbelief.
Quick to course correct, Andi scrambled to explain his momentary brain fog, saying: ‘Sorry Adil. No, Adil, the thing is, I didn’t sleep last night. I just didn’t sleep, and I can feel this fog in my head today.’
Much to the flustered Andi’s relief, no doubt, Adil soon got in on the joke, quipping back to Andi: ‘It’s fine John, it’s absolutely fine John, no worries John.’
That tickled the red-faced presenter, who giggled, himself adding: ‘Exactly, it’s absolutely fine, Michael Underwood,’ which elicited a bark of laughter from Adil as the pair both descended into chuckles.
Memory lapses happen to the best of us, and it seems Adil had happily forgiven the other man as he traipsed off to St Paul’s, ready for a check-in later on.
After all, live TV is not without its hazards, and Good Morning Britain has had its fair share of chaotic moments over the years.
Just last week, the ever-terrifying fictional children’s character Mr Blobby wreaked havoc on the early morning news show, causing host Kate Garraway to outright topple out of her chair.
As the auction segment went totally off the rails, once more Ranvir was left to watch on with her head in her hands.
Earlier this month, the broadcaster also faced amused scrutiny after the C-word was accidentally put on air through the medium of an overlooked sign at a music festival they were showing video clips from.
An ITV spokesperson said: ‘We apologise to any viewers offended by the accidental appearance of the expletive, which was featured in concert footage.’
Good Morning Britain airs every weekday morning on ITV from 6am.
