Sharon Osbourne, 73, hospitalised and forced to miss ‘stunning’ tribute to Ozzy

Sharon Osbourne had to miss a ‘stunning tribute’ to her late husband Ozzy after being hospitalised.

The 73-year-old was supposed to attend the unveiling of an Ozzy Osbourne statue at the French metal festival Hellfest.

However, on the day of the unveiling, she was absent for unknown reasons.

Since then, Sharon has explained why she was missing on Instagram.

‘I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue,’ she wrote.

‘Unfortunately, I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week.

‘A big thank you, Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest. Special thank you to @philippe_pasqua_officiel for the absolutely stunning statue!’

Ozzy died on 22 July last year at his home in Buckinghamshire of a heart attack.

The Black Sabbath frontman had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2005 but only publicly revealed it in January 2020.

Following his death, there was an outpouring of grief from friends and fans.

Sir Elton John wrote on Instagram: ‘So sad to hear the news of Ozzy Osbourne passing away.

‘He was a dear friend and a huge trailblazer who secured his place in the pantheon of rock gods – a true legend.

‘He was also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. I will miss him dearly. To Sharon and the family, I send my condolences and love.’

Meanwhile, Ozzy’s unofficial protégé Yungblud said news of Osbourne’s death had left him ‘truly heartbroken’ in a heartfelt message on social media.

‘I didn’t think you would leave so soon. The last time we met, you were so full of life, and your laugh filled up the room,’ he wrote. ‘But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t.

Since Ozzy’s death, however, Sharon has become a controversial figure after she expressed support for a rally being organised by Tommy Robinson.

Sharon commented on a post about a planned rally, ‘See you at the march’.

After news of the comment went viral, the homelessness charity Centrepoint dropped Sharon as an ambassador, saying it had ‘no plans’ to work with her again.
