The Spice Girls caused pandemonium yesterday by teasing some sort of big announcement – and now they’ve made it… much to people’s disappointment.
Taking to social media, they hinted something was afoot by dropping an unexpected cryptic video with the caption, ‘10.09.2026 | 2pm BST.’
Filmed on the stairs of London’s St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, the shot instantly gave fans a nostalgia hit, since the location was famously used for the Wannabe music video in 1996, with the song playing in the background.
This year marks 30 years since Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell released their debut single, and the girl group members had already spoken about wanting to mark the anniversary.
In their announcement this afternoon, the group confirmed that, for the first time, all their singles, B-sides, and even some vault tracks will be released as part of a special collection comprising posters and merch, with bundles reaching £277 in price.
This includes a 14-disc colour vinyl and CD box sets, which will be released on November 6. And, sitting front and centre is Do You Think About Me, one of their earliest demos, now seeing the light of day after three decades.
In a press release, The Singles Collection was described as ‘a must-have for music fans’ in celebration of the fivesome bursting onto the music scene and kickstarting a Girl Power movement.
While many fans reacted with excitement, others felt the drop was a bit anticlimactic, having still held out hope for a full reunion or tour.
‘Another major disappointment!’, @gregtgregt wrote on Instagram. ‘At this point it’s hopeless to anticipate any reunion. You’re milking your fans like any other greedy corporation. It’s not fair, but it also damages the memory and nostalgia.’

The stars have remained close friends in their personal lives, but when it comes to being Spice Girls, they haven’t performed together as a full line-up for 14 years.
In 2012, Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby, and Ginger reunited for the London Olympics closing ceremony, singing their biggest hits from the top of black cabs in what can only be described as a spine-chillingly iconic moment.
However, when a tour came around seven years later, one member was noticeably absent.
Victoria opted not to join the girls on the Spice World Tour in 2019, wanting to focus on her fashion empire and not return to her pop star roots, with live performances also giving her anxiety.

Still, the door isn’t permanently closed, as VB has expressed interest in a more residency-style concert run, even if a world tour is off the table.
Speaking last October, she told US radio station Sirius XM that she ‘loves’ the idea of a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere venue.
‘It would be tempting,’ she confessed. ‘But could I take on a world tour? No, I can’t. I have a job…
‘How good would the Spice Girls be at the Sphere? I love the idea of it.’
‘I mean, I don’t know if I could even still sing; I mean, I was never that great!’, she joked.
Plus, she’s often seen with her former bandmates at birthday celebrations and parties, proving there’s no bad blood, even if she is reluctant to pick up a microphone beyond a karaoke number.
And, of course, every year, there are rumours of the group headlining Glastonbury, with Mel C spotted on stages at Worthy Farm on numerous occasions and calling a Spice Girls set there a ‘bucket list’ achievement, so there’s every reason for fans to hope they could be back in front of an audience one day.
