Katie Price has addressed accusations she was ‘unrecognisable’ at the National Television Awards this week, after her red carpet photos were widely shared online.

The former glamour model, 48, donned heavy make-up to attend Tuesday’s awards show, which she subsequently revealed was applied to cover bruising from recent injectables.

Price slicked back her hair for the red carpet, donning a long-sleeved white shirt paired with lace hot pants over black tights.

In a new episode of her podcast, The Katie Price Show, she told her sister Sophie she received forehead filler the day before TV’s big night, during a trip to Brussels.

While undergoing corrective surgery on her breasts, because ‘one was bigger than the other’ following a procedure two months ago, Price said she asked if they could further enlarge her chest, given that she was already going under a general anaesthetic.

On the episode titled Unrecognisable at the NTAs, she went on to explain the need for heavy make-up, saying: ‘As you get older or lose weight, the side of your temples tend to cave in. They go hollow, like you can under your eyes.

‘So he put some filler in and my face – I didn’t know – would swell up like this.’

Price said she told her makeup artist Mitchell Halliday that ‘he could do whatever he wants’ and that he did ‘an amazing job covering it up’ for the NTAs.

He has said that the inspiration for the look was a giant pair of sunglasses, hence the bold black eyeliner.

She added: ‘But obviously when you have makeup like this, if you’re in the wrong light, it can look proper plastered on, which is sad because a lot of the lighting, they’ve used the wrong lighting to cane on my face in the papers.

‘But do you know what? In the right light and in life, I loved it and everyone commented about it and I loved how I looked. It’s exactly what I wanted.’

Later on in the podcast episode, Price said Halliday had done an ‘amazing job’ and is now her favourite make-up artist.

Alluding to her photographed look once again, she added: ‘It was so much better in life than some of the pictures, because people love to get angles or the wrong lighting to make it look like… but we know how that works.’

Referring to herself in the third person, she concluded: ‘But she still made the headlines, so I don’t care.’
