Tom Holland missed the 2024 Met Gala in New York after sustaining a golfing injury.

The Spider-Man star, 27, supported partner Zendaya, also 27, at the star-studded event from afar after he suffered a nasty looking injury on a Scottish golf course last month.

But the famed actor – who is thought to live in Richmond, London with the Challengers superstar – doesn’t look back on the flying golf ball in anger, but with the amusement of hindsight.

He took to social media to joke about the incident, which left a perfectly circular red mark on the left side of his forehead.

‘Who ever said golf isn’t a contact sport is full of s**t. You can almost see the dimples,’ he wrote on a picture shared on Instagram of the mark.

He then linked to his father Dominic Holland’s Patreon site, where the doting dad shared an amusing story about the series of events which led the ball to Tom’s head.

However, St Andrews proved slightly trickier than Tom anticipated when a golf ball flew into his head (Picture: Euan Cherry/Getty Images for University of St Andrews )

Dominic shared that a gold ball did indeed hit his son’s head, but it was not a serious injury.

‘In fact, it was hit by a sand wedge from 80 yards albeit by a scratch golfer who should have known better and frankly been more accurate,’ he wrote, according to Mail Online.

‘The offending player was Alex Roberts, a close friend of Tom’s… without knowing that his most important and highly valuable friend was off the green to his left.’

‘[Tom was] lucky then to be playing in Scotland (the home of golf) in April when woolly hats are mandatory for survival,’ his dad joked.

He was then ‘dispatched to hospital for some checks.’

While Tom was posting about his injury from afar on Sunday night, his battle scar didn’t stop him from cheering on Zendaya as she stunned on the red carpet at the event, for which she was a co-chair this year.

Adding to a growing number of appreciation posts for Zendaya on his Instagram timeline, Tom posted two red carpet snaps with a series of love-struck emoji faces.

She arrived at the event in a peacock-blue corseted dress by Maison Margiela, looking every bit an ethereal queen with strikingly dark eye-liner and an extravagant feathered hat.

For her second look, the Dune star opted for a charcoal couture Givenchy gown from 1996, with over a dozen roses embedded in an incredibly dramatic hat. As you do.

This Hollywood couple just keep on getting sweeter and sweeter after they finally confirmed dating rumors in 2021, which were first sparked when they shared the screen in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, where they forged a very close friendship.

In a chat with Extra, Tom revealed they often reflect over their Spider-Man days together where their relationship blossomed.

‘Zendaya and I will, every now and then, watch Spider-Man 1 and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again,’ he said.

‘I love those movies, and I love savoring those moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I would maybe like to because it’s so special.

‘It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth.’
