<p id=”par-1_33″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/prince-harry/”>Prince Harry</a> has just returned to the U.K. with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/prince-harry-was-able-to-marry-meghan-markle-because-she-didnt-do-this-1-thing-in-her-past.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>his wife, Meghan</a>, and their two children, but now it’s being reported that the duke is flying back to the U.S. this month. </p>
<p id=”par-2_23″>So why is the former working royal going back to America so soon after relocating to England at the end of August? </p>
<p id=”par-3_68″><a href=”https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2247608/prince-harry-return-us-uk-drama” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Express</a> noted that Harry will be heading to New York to attend Bill and Hillary Clinton’s annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting on Sept. 22 and 23. The Duke of Sussex previously made an appearance at the 2024 event and delivered a speech about the harmful effects social media can have on young people. Chrissy Teigen, Bill Nye, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman are also scheduled to attend. </p>

<p id=”par-4_44″>The report comes at a time when the Sussexes’ return to Britain has been clouded with drama. That’s because on Sept. 7, a letter from King Charles was sent to government departments and military officials clarifying that the Sussexes are “private citizens” now. </p>
<p id=”par-5_56″>It read in part, “[Harry and Meghan’s] styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used. The charitable work of the duke and duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.</p>
<p id=”par-6_50″>“Any specific questions from official and state organizations about the courtesies which should be extended to the duke and duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant police authorities.”</p>
<p id=”par-7_44″>A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan said they were “caught off guard” by the letter as they did not have time to review it. They were <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/prince-harry-meghan-reject-king-charles-private-citizens-label-heres-demand-called-instead.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>not happy about being labeled as “private citizens”</a> as they want to be referred to as “public figures.”</p>

If that were the case, it was claimed, such formal guidance would not be required. The Sussexes prefer the term ‘public figures’ and would have liked an acknowledgement that, on a personal level, they remained members of the royal family, despite no longer receiving public funding.”</p>
<p id=”par-9_30″>This letter has caused tension between the Sussexes and the Palace at a time when many hoped that the king and his youngest son could move toward a reconciliation. </p>
<p id=”par-10_49″>It’s not clear if Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet will be staying in England while Harry is in New York. However, many believe that will be the case since the children are enrolled in a U.K. school as the family is staying at a private estate in the Cotswolds. </p>
