One person died Thursday afternoon when two vehicles collided in south Aurora, according to the police department.
Aurora officers responded to the two-vehicle crash at Iliff Avenue and Blackhawk Street at about 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the police department. The intersection is just east of Interstate 225.
One driver, who was the only person inside what police called “the victim vehicle,” died at the scene of the crash, police said. Both people inside “the suspect vehicle” were detained and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Information on the cause of the crash and any charges under investigation was not immediately available Thursday.
As of 3 p.m., the intersection of Iliff and Blackhawk was closed to all traffic for the crash cleanup and investigation, Aurora police said. Eastbound Iliff was also closed at Interstate 225, and westbound Iliff was closed at Sable Boulevard.
