Top draft prospects stand on stage during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday, in Detroit.
The 2024 NFL Draft lifted off Thursday night with the first round in downtown Detroit, where the Bears kicked things off as expected by taking USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick.
Williams, in a dark blue suited, shouted into the air as he walked onto the stage, showing his excitement to go No. 1 to Chicago.
The Commanders followed up the Williams pick by taking LSU’s Jayden Daniels, and the Patriots also took a quarterback in UNC’s Drake Maye. The Cardinals took the first non-QB of the night, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., then the Chargers selected Notre Dame offensive lineman Joe Alt to round out the top five.
The NFL stretches its draft over three days. After Round 1 on Thursday night, Rounds 2-3 will be covered Friday and Rounds 4-7 will be held Saturday.
