Bears report: RB Kyle Monangai practices for first time in more than a month

What happened Friday at Halas Hall:

Monangai returns to practice

No. 2 running back Kyle Monangai practiced for the first time in more than a month after suffering a toe injury in Week 4 against the Jets, when he rushed a career-high 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

He was limited in practice and it seems unlikely he’ll play Sunday against the Buccaneers, but the Bears listed him as questionable. By sitting, Monangai would get two more weeks to recover before the Bears face the Saints after their bye week.

Jarrett doing fine

Injuries have been tougher to gauge because of the tight turnaround returning from Seattle, coach Ben Johnson said. He mentioned that with regard to defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who has missed time with a groin injury but will play.

Cornerback concerns

Cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson (thumb) and Malik Muhammad (toe) have been playing through injuries, but both were limited and listed as questionable.

Benedet to play

Left tackle Theo Benedet injured his shoulder against the Seahawks but practiced in full and was cleared to play.

Bucs updates

The Bucs scratched outside linebacker Yaya Diaby and listed wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (foot) as questionable, even though Egbuka practiced in full the last two days. Left tackle Tristan Wirfs (toe) and safety Tykee Smith (ankle) will play.

Vacation plans?

When asked how much time, if any, he’ll take off during the bye week, Johnson said: ‘‘As much as my wife wants me to. . . . I’ll find out after the game what she wants to do. But if we’re in town, it’s going to be hard not to come [to Halas Hall] for at least a little bit.’’
