Bears report: RB Kyle Monangai’s thumb injury not considered serious

What happened Monday at Halas Hall:

Monangai OK

Bears running back Kyle Monangai’s thumb injury isn’t overly serious, coach Ben Johnson said, as the Bears prepare to face the Packers on Sunday.

“We think he’s going to be OK,” he said. “So we’ll see what it looks like as we go through the week here, but more of a day-to-day type deal.”

Minutes after he ran 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdown in the Bears’ 23-11 win against the Jets, Monangai had imaging done on his right thumb. He didn’t know exactly how he hurt it.

No Micah

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that edge rush star Micah Parsons won’t practice this week, cementing his status as out for Sunday’s rivalry game at Lambeau Field. He’s recovering from last year’s ACL tear.

“The guy is working his butt off to be out there,” LaFleur told Green Bay reporters. “We’ve made some ground in the last week, but where and when he’ll be available, time will tell. Certainly looking forward to that day.”

Cooper out

Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper tore his Achilles’ tendon in Sunday’s win against the Buccaneers and is out for the year. LaFleur called him a “tough guy to lose.”
