One person has been killed and another wounded in a bloodbath captured on camera in France.
Footage circulating on social media shows a knifeman attacking a civilian on the street just before 8pm today.
He can be seen stabbing them multiple times as they fall on the ground on one of the ‘busiest streets’ in the city of Bordeaux.
At least a dozen people can be seen standing just meters away from the scene, a short distance from the Pont de Pierre bridge.
Witnesses said they saw the attacker stab pedestrians with a bladed weapon after ‘telling them off for drinking’.
Police racing to the scene shot the suspect down, using a machine gun, according to an investigating source.
Authorities later confirmed that the assailant is dead.
There was no early indication as to the motive of the stabbings, but it came on a night of high tension across France, following warnings of an attack on football stadium by ISIS.
Former mayor of Bordeaux Nicolas Florian said on X: ‘Deeply shocked by this knife attack on one of the busiest places in Bordeaux.
‘I send all my support to the victims and witnesses of this tragedy.
‘I salute the intervention of our police officers who shot the maniac down.’
