Boy, 15, fourth suspect charged with murder of man pushed off moving Red Line train

A 15-year-old boy is the fourth suspect charged with the murder of Kyle Bickham who was pushed off of a moving Red Line train last month.

The boy, who isn’t named because he’s a minor, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, one count of aggravated battery of a transit employee and one count of mob action, Chicago police said.

Police did not release court information for the boy.

The charges come after Christian S. McBounds, 18, 19-year-old Katlar Parchman and a 15-year-old girl have already been charged with murder.

Bickham, 29, was pushed off of a moving train Sept. 7 near the 69th Street Red Line station after a fight broke out between him and Parchman, officials said.

Bickham and the teen girl started arguing, and at one point, Bickham allegedly spit at the girl and hit Parchman, according to CTA surveillance footage reviewed by prosecutors. Soon after, all four attackers started repeatedly punching Bickham. One of the males choked him, while the other male pulled the emergency lever for one of the train’s sliding doors as it was moving.

The 15-year-old girl grabbed Bickham by his head and shoulders, and with the help of one of the males, threw him off the moving train, according to prosecutors. Bickham was hit by a train traveling in the other direction.

The death was the ninth homicide of the long Labor Day holiday weekend. Police originally reported a person had jumped from the train.
