Boy, 17, dies day after stabbed by another teen in Joliet

A 17-year-old boy died a day after he was stabbed by another teen in southwest suburban Joliet, officials announced Tuesday.

The teen, who was in critical condition at St. Joseph Medical Center due to injuries from the stabbing, died Monday, according to Joliet police. His name hasn’t yet been released.

Another 17-year-old boy was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm in the attack, police previously said.

Around 12:55 p.m. Sunday, the teen was stabbed on the fifth floor at Riverwalk Homes Apartments, 366 N. Broadway, police said. The other teen was detained at the scene and a knife was recovered.
