A BRITISH tourist has tragically drowned in Mauritius after going for a swim in “rough seas”.
The 55-year-old landed on the paradise island on Sunday and is believed to have died on his first swim of the holiday.

He went to the nearby Flic en Flac lagoon before getting into trouble in the choppy waters, say local media.
The Brit’s body was dragged out of the unpredictable lagoon by a French national on a boat who saw him after he had drowned.
He was rushed to shore where people drastically tried to revive him before his body was transported to a local hospital where he was officially declared dead.
The sea is thought to have been rough in the lagoon with heavy swells – similar to waves – being reported throughout the day.
The Brit was staying in the popular tourist spot of Henessy Park Hotel in Ebène, on the west side of the island, say local reports.
He was due to leave Mauritius on Friday.
It is not clear if he was with anyone else on the trip.
Three other people have recently drowned on the East African island due to the strong swells being experienced across the beautiful island.
Another three are reportedly missing as rescue efforts by the coast guard have been heavily plagued by rough winds and waves of up to 13ft.
It comes as another Brit tourist died from a heart attack moments after he jumped into the Red Sea on a sightseeing boat trip.
The 73-year-old man was with a group of friends in Marmaris, Turkey when he went to cool off in the water.
Medics believe he could have suffered cold water shock which caused his heart attack.
