A shootout among three vehicles traveling on the Dan Ryan Expressway left a CTA Red Line passenger to be hit by flying shards of glass when a bullet shattered the train’s window Sunday morning in Roseland.
The passenger, a 46-year-old man, was riding the train in the first block of West 95th Street about 2:15 p.m. when a shootout among three vehicles nearby on the inbound Day Ryan Expressway erupted, police said.
When a “stray bullet” smashed the train’s window, the man was hit in the face and body by glass, according to the CTA and police. He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was in good condition.
The drivers of the shooting vehicles fled and have not been arrested.
Area 2 detectives are investigating.
