A fire west of Burro Peak in the Angeles National Forest has burned about 30 acres as of Monday afternoon, May 18.
No one has been injured, said Keila Vizcarra, a spokeswoman for the Angeles National Forest.
Called the Burro Fire, the blaze started around 12:30 p.m. in Burro Canyon, she said, adding the shooting range was evacuated.
Water-dropping helicopters were among the aircraft used in the fire.
Around 2:20 p.m., she said the “fire spread has significantly slowed.”
Firefighters don’t yet know what started the fire.
Highway 39 near East Fork Road was closed.
The Los Angeles Angeles County Fire Department is assisting the U.S. Forest Service.
