Car blown up in central London after being left outside major train station

A car was blown up by the Metropolitan Police after it was left outside King’s Cross St Pancras station this afternoon.

Emergency services cordoned off the road around the ‘unattended vehicle’ and evacuated the transport hub.

Officers then carried out a controlled explosion, which was heard by passers-by around the area.

The vehicle has since been declared non-suspicious, the Met said.

The vehicle sparked an evacuation of King’s Cross St Pancras

Customers have now been told it is safe to re-enter the station after the evacuation.

However the disruption sparked delays with Eurostar departures, with some pushed back by at least 30 minutes.

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is also experiencing significant disruption across the network.

Routes between St Pancras and Corby, Leicester, Derby, and Sheffield are currently affected.

Traffic is partially blocked and building on Pancras Road in both directions.
