Charges pending after SWAT standoff in Austin neighborhood

Charges are pending after a SWAT standoff in Austin Friday morning on the West Side, according to Chicago police.

Officers responded to the 4900 block of West Jackson Boulevard for a domestic disturbance just before 2 a.m. when a witness told them two people were arguing and one of them struck the other, police said.

Officers called for SWAT backup after the witness told them the suspect had access to two large dogs and a firearm, police said.

The person who was struck was able to leave the home, officials said. The suspect exited around 3:45 a.m. and was arrested, police said.
