Police recovered a knife after a “known” suspect fatally stabbed a man in the face late Monday in the Norwood Park, Chicago police said.
Around 11:15 p.m., Giovanni Martinez began arguing and fighting with someone he knew in the 6000 block of North Harlem Avenue when he was stabbed, police said.
Martinez, of the 1800 block of North Avers Avenue, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:02 a.m., the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled.
The attacker was arrested at the scene, and a knife was recovered, officials said.
Charges were pending.
