Chicago police have released video of a fatal gas station ambush in Greater Grand Crossing last week.
The video shows a black car pulling into a gas station in the 7500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue around 7 p.m. Friday. Suddenly, two masked gunmen wearing dark clothing approached a parked black car with Naseem D. Stevens at the wheel and at least one of the gunmen fired through the driver’s seat window, police said.
The other gunman was shooting what appeared to be a machine gun near a gas pump at the lot, according to the video.
The masked gunmen then got back in the sedan before fleeing, officials said.
Stevens, 26, drove away when the other vehicle followed and shot at him in traffic, police said. After being shot, Stevens crashed near 73rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times.
A female passenger who was inside Stevens’ vehicle fled following the crash, but she was not shot, according to the report.
A funeral sticker was on Stevens’ vehicle, according to the report, which said the funeral for Chicago Rapper Bloodhound Q50 was earlier in the day in Merrillville, Ind. but it was “uncertain” if the attack that left Stevens dead was linked.
