Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm safety teams are monitoring a hazmat crisis at a Garden Grove aerospace plant involving a malfunctioning chemical tank threatening to explode and release a toxic cloud.
The hazmat incident at GKN Aerospace on Western Avenue in Garden Grove that began on Thursday, May 21 and worsened on Friday is located approximately five miles from Knott’s Berry Farm and seven miles from Disneyland.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and team members is a cornerstone of our business,” according to a Knott’s Berry Farm official. “We are working closely with our partners at the Orange County Fire Authority to actively monitor the situation. At this time, the park has not been impacted.”
The Knott’s Berry Farm safety team is trained for emergency responses, which includes moving guests safely and efficiently out of the park.
The Disneyland resort is actively monitoring the situation, taking guidance from local authorities and supporting cast members impacted by the evacuation order, according to Disneyland officials.
There has been no impact to the Disneyland resort, which continues to be open for guests, according to Disneyland officials.
Orange County Fire Authority crews have stabilized the tank’s temperature in hopes of buying time to avoid a disaster.
