Disneyland to demolish 4 ticket booths

Disneyland will demolish four ticket booths in preparation for a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard that will be used by millions of visitors eager to see the new lands and attractions debuting at the Anaheim theme park resort over the next five years.

Work will begin this week on the esplanade between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure starting with the eastern ticket booths, according to Disneyland officials.

Disneyland has filed permits with the city of Anaheim to demolish the four ticket booths closest to Harbor Boulevard, according to Theme Park IQ.

The permits call for the foundations to be removed and utilities capped on each of the 700-square-foot ticket booths, according to Theme Park IQ.

The pedestrian bridge will connect the Disneyland resort esplanade with a new eastside parking structure, transportation hub and security screening area on an employee parking lot as a crucial first step in the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward expansion plan.

Disneyland concept art shows the Harbor Boulevard bus drop off/pick up area and security checkpoint replaced by a tree-lined esplanade and swooping S-shaped pedestrian bridge.

The pedestrian bridge would connect visitors by foot between the existing Disneyland bus drop off/pick up area on the west side of Harbor Boulevard and Disneyland’s Manchester employee parking lot on the east side of Harbor Boulevard.

The pedestrian bridge would pass over the Disneyland Monorail track that runs parallel to Harbor Boulevard on the west side of the street.

Pedestrians would pass between the Tropicana Inn and Camelot Inn hotels on the east side of Harbor Boulevard along a narrow strip of land that connects to the existing Manchester employee parking lot.

The concept art is meant to capture the essence of the project and is not intended to depict final details and design of the bridge.

The new eastside parking structure and transportation hub would push the existing Disneyland bus drop off/pick up area along Harbor Boulevard to Disneyland’s Manchester employee parking lot that backs up to the I-5 Freeway.

The new garage and bridge are an essential first step as Disneyland plans to build new lands and attractions over the next five years as part of the DisneylandForward plan.

Two new Marvel rides — Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab — will double the size of Avengers Campus when the expansion debuts in 2028.

Other projects on the horizon include a Coco boat ride in Pixar Pier, a reimagined Tomorrowland with new attractions at Disneyland and an Avatar themed land on DCA’s Hollywood Land.
