Drivers face 60-minute delays on M6 after overrunning roadworks

Drivers have been caught up in traffic mayhem on the M6 due to overrunning roadworks.
Motorists have been warned of up to 60-minute delays on the M6 as the rush hour gets into full swing.
A stretch of the M6 remains closed northbound between J11 Shareshill and J12 Gailey, causing long tailbacks in the area.
Slow traffic is snarling back towards Walsall as queues stretch for six miles, and nearby roads like the A460 through Shareshill and A5 are gridlocked.
The road was unable to open after overnight works were not completed in time due to ‘issues with tarmac supply and broken down machinery,’ according to National Highways.
National Highways said: ‘Road remains closed due to overrunning overnight roadworks.
‘Delays building, currently 60 mins and 6 miles of congestion on the approach.
‘Please plan ahead.’
One frustrated motorist said on social media: ‘Wow, these companies should be fined for the disruption they cause.’
Another one said they worried the closure could ‘drag on all morning and possibly into the afternoon.’
Diversions have been put in place for drivers heading north, and they should follow the hollow circle symbol at J11 to exit onto the A460 northbound.
