Easter revellers don’t let rain spoil their fun as they kick off Bank Holiday weekend with boozy night on the town

EASTER revellers refused to let the rain dampen their spirits as they kicked off the bumper four-day weekend.

Brits took to towns and cities across the country for a drunken night of celebrations.

Some were forced to hide under their handbags as rain and wind threatened to spoil their plans.

But the Bank Holiday boozers still managed to have a good time as they looked ahead to the four-day bonanza.

In Leeds, girls were given lifts by fellow drinkers so puddles would not ruin their shoes.

While brave revellers in Birmingham headed out without coats despite the chilly temperatures.

It came as snow blanketed parts of Britain yesterday with yellow warnings for rain and wind in force.

Gales of 70mph winds battered some areas – with others affected by hail and thunder.

But there is good news for those hoping to head out this weekend as temperatures are set to soar to 16C.

The sun will also be making an appearance today – with scattered sunshine and showers throughout the weekend.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Helen Caughey said: “Showers will continue into the weekend, especially for southern and western areas.

“However, it is likely that we will see something of an improvement for most areas, with showers tending to become less frequent, and a better chance of longer spells of sunshine for eastern and northern areas, especially on Sunday.

“It will also become less windy, and temperatures should start to trend upwards, feeling quite warm in any sunshine.

“However, more widely unsettled conditions look likely to return into Easter Monday, but there is still some uncertainty in the timing of this deterioration.”
