Hear about the El Segundo Little League championship team’s journey to their 2023 victory through a team leader’s new book.
A book signing for “Second to None: A Coach’s Message of Love and Selflessness Propels Tiny El Segundo to a Dramatic Little League World Title” by El Segundo Little League manager Danny Boehle and local author Dan Coonan is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 at the the El Segundo Public Library.
The free event is hosted in partnership with the El Segundo Historical Committee.
Then 12-year-old Louis Lappe hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the final inning during the game on Aug. 27, 2023. The ball shot into the left field stands, lifting the seaside city’s headline-making team to a 6-5 lead over Curacao and snagging the Little League World Series’ international championship in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Bohele and Coonan will share stories and answer questions about coaching the El Segundo Little League All-Stars to becoming the 2023 Little League World Series Champions, as well as discuss their experience writing the book.
Books will be available for purchase, and Boehle and Coonan will be on hand to sign copies.
