Allen Robinson, who had 3,561 receiving yards from 2018-21 with the Bears, officially retired Monday.
In a nine-minute video he posted to social media, Robinson detailed the stops in his career, starting with youth football. He said it was “always special to me” to compete against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, saying he swapped jerseys with the quarterback after one of their rivalry games.
He last played in an NFL game two years ago, with his hometown Lions. He said he felt his body “slowing up” and appreciated that his career was able to come full circle.
Robinson signed with the Bears as a free agent before their magical 2018 season. He led the team in receiving with 754 yards. He had 1,147 and 1,250, respectively, the following two seasons. Robinson entered the 2020 season eager to sign a contract extension, but the Bears eventually gave him the franchise tag for the following season before he left for free agency. He has the 11th-most receiving yards in Bears history.
Robinson had one-year stints with the Rams, Steelers and Lions. A second-round pick out of Penn State, Robinson’s only Pro Bowl season came in his second year with the Jaguars, when he had a whopping 1,400 receiving yards.
