Sushi Den’s lunch service has been on ice since COVID-19 hit in 2020. But this week, the beloved Denver restaurant has updated its hours for eager diners who have missed the power lunch.

Sushi Den, located at 1487 S. Pearl St., is bringing back its familiar “Catch of the Day” menu, showcasing sushi, sashimi and nigiri shipped in daily from Japan. There are also a few new menu items, including tonkatsu, a Japanese version of schnitzel; katsudon, a bowl of rice topped with an omelet and fried pork tenderloin; and katsu curry.

Lunch prices are more approachable than Sushi Den’s dinner offerings, ranging from $5 for miso soup to $25 for a lunch bento box with miso soup and rice, a four-piece California roll, shrimp and vegetable tempura and miso salmon.
Brothers Toshi and Yasu Kizaki started “Den Corner,” as their block is sometimes called, in 1984 with the opening of Sushi Den. They added Izakaya Den, a Japanese gastro pub, in 2007 and followed three years later with Ototo, which serves up Japanese robata-style tapas.
Now, they’re working on a fourth South Pearl Street spot known as Denchu, which will provide a typical Japanese omakase experience. Michelin-recommended Temaki Den, known for its hand rolls and seared nigiri, was their first restaurant outside of the Platt Park neighborhood when they opened within RiNo’s The Source Market Hall in 2020.
