The Orient Express La Dolce Vita train has been garnering buzz since its recent revamp, with design inspiration and precisely crafted details inspired by the classic 1960 Fellini film. The “Northern Greens” route through Italy was first announced last year, and the train titan now ups the ante with its “Italian Swing” itinerary, practically a golf enthusiast’s dream that blends both sport and luxury in expert fashion.
Billed as “the golf trip of a lifetime,” each carefully crafted itinerary “invites guests to experience Italy through this very lens, pairing the country’s most prestigious golf courses with the timeless elegance of grand rail travel,” the Orient Express said. Nearly 20 original carriages from its glory days make up the traveling experience itself, while fairway destinations include top Italian courses like Antognolla Golf Club.
The Orient Express also notes that each itinerary represents “where sport, nature, and elegance meet,” with both journeys starting and ending at the 19th hole in Rome. Priced starting at about $12,100 and debuting in late September, the Orient Express says the La Dolce Vita delivers an “experience tailor-made for true golf lovers.”
On the equally enviable Northern Greens route, Turin and Tuscany are part of the itinerary “where world-class golf meets the elegance of the train and the beauty of the Italian landscapes,” the company says.
At the core of the trip is the 2023 Ryder Cup venue Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, while daily wellness rituals, culturation exploration at each stop, and on-board meals curated by three-Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck also deliver a golf trip of a lifetime.
