Los Angeles Dodgers fans now have a new home base to hang out near the stadium as they watch the boys in blue chase a third World Series trophy.
After opening its first concession stand in the Centerfield Plaza at the stadium this season, the Habit Burger & Grill chain has gone all-in on the blue and recently transformed its nearby Echo Park location into a Dodger-themed restaurant dubbed Dodgers x Habit Home Base, and it’s going to be a busy summer at the revamped spot.
“To us this is a place where fans can come together all season long,” said Laura Gosselin, communications manager for the Habit. “They can come in, rep Dodger blue, watch the game and be part of moments that feel authentically L.A.,” she added.
The restaurant, at 2134 W. Sunset Blvd., is decked in blue with neon signs, Dodger-blue upholstery, vintage photography, team banners and a mural on the exterior wall painted by acclaimed Los Angeles street artist Alex Gonzalez that depicts a Dodger bobblehead figure holding a Habit burger next to a vintage blue convertible.
“I hope it creates a moment where people stop, take it in, snap a photo, and feel connected not just to the team, but to the community around it. Like it’s their spot,” Gonzalez said in a statement.
Known for its Charbugers, the Habit opened its first restaurant in 1969 in Goleta, and has since grown to 400 locations, but the Echo Park spot is where Dodger fans will want to be, not just to watch games, but for summer specials too.
Planned events for this season include a Hawaiian Shirt Night starting at 4 p.m. on July 7. It’ll be a little more fun than the Hawaiian Shirt day in the film “Office Space,” since here the first 100 people who come in their shirts will get a free Blue Wave Shake. Then on July 20 it’s a Dodger watch party with Menace from Alt 98.7’s The Woody Show. There will be ticket giveaways to the Aug. 2 game versus the Red Sox.
Aug. 13 might be one of the busiest nights since people will get to meet Gonzalez the muralist and blue hearts will be all over the place on Sept. 4 during Dodgers Date night, where you and your sweetie can buy a burger and get on for free. Just be mindful to not bring a date if they’re wearing Giants or Astros gear.
