Here’s when Taco Bell will launch new Decades Menu with famous chalupa

Taco Bell is bringing back an attention-grabbing chalupa shell this Thursday, Aug. 20.

The Naked Chicken Chalupa has a crispy shell made with white-meat chicken breast instead of protein on the inside. It was briefly available in early 2017 and has been brought back a couple of times since then, most recently in 2021.

It’s part of the Irvine-based fast food giant’s latest Decades menu, a tradition it started two years ago.

This year’s theme is 2016, and the menu is called Decades #TBTB. The chalupa got in because it was tested in that year, according to a news release. It will sell for a suggested price of $5.99, but prices may vary by location.

It will also be offered in a $9 Discovery Box with a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, a Crunchy Taco, chips with nacho cheese sauce and a medium fountain drink.

The menu also includes the Meximelt, which features seasoned beef, pico de gallo and a three-cheese blend wrapped in a flour tortilla for $2.99.

The Beefy Crunch Burrito, made with ground beef and Flamin’ Hot Fritos, rice, reduced-fat sour cream and cheese sauce, is already available to rewards members. It costs about $2.79.

The Caramel Apple Empanada will make its third appearance on Decades menus for about $2.99.

Taco Bell launched its first Decades menu in the fall of 2024, while there was a worldwide frenzy for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Other current featured items include Tajin-flavored items in a collaboration with singer-songwriter Peso Pluma. They include a Tajin Taco and a Tajin Cheesy Gordita Crunch, both with seasoned beef, as well as a Tajin Pineapple Strawberry Freeze.

The chain is also serving Pepper Jack Steak Nacho Fries.

Taco Bell is in recovery mode from a mid-July health scare linked to contaminated lettuce that spurred several lawsuits.
