A Humboldt Park man was charged with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting last month, Chicago police said.
Malik Nelson, 31, was arrested Friday in the Loop. Nelson allegedly shot 38-year-old Raymond Hammitte Sept. 10 in the 800 block of North Kedzie Avenue in Humboldt Park, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Hammitte, suffering from gunshot wounds to his head, was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. He died five days later, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Nelson was expected to make his first appearance in court on Sunday.
