Lake County authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in north suburban Mundelein that left a woman dead.
According to a news release from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, police were called to a home on the 1100 block of Ashbrook Drive just before 6 p.m. Monday.
A caller informed police a female relative was threatening to harm herself and stated she “wanted the police to kill her.”
When officers arrived, the woman was seated on the back patio. Officers were speaking with the caller when the woman stood up and approached the rear sliding doors, armed with two knives.
