A 24-year-old man already charged with two counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting two men in Long Beach last month may now face a murder charge after one of the victims died at a hospital, authorities said Monday, Aug. 3.
Brian Medina of Long Beach was arrested on July 10 on suspicion of shooting the men just before 7:15 a.m. in the 300 block of West Anaheim Street, near Cedar Avenue, Long Beach police said.
One of the men was critically injured, while the second had non-life threatening injuries, police said. They were both hospitalized.
Medina was arrested later that day in the 2300 block of Linden Avenue and was charged days later with two counts of attempted murder, police said.
Detectives were notified on Thursday, July 30, that 44-year-old William Davis died of his injuries, police said. The second victim was identified by police as a man in his 50s.
A murder charge against Medina was pending as of Monday, police said.
He was being held in jail on more than $3 million bail.
The circumstances and motive for the shooting were not known.
