MAGA influencer and Turning Point USA talk show host Jack Posobiec criticized Democratic Socialist Mayor of New York City Zohran Mamdani for noting that the city was the first capital of the United States, a fact Mamdani mentioned during a Fourth of July celebration last weekend.
Mamdani wrote: “Today’s Parade of Sail on the Hudson River was stunning. I’m so proud to be the Mayor of New York City — our nation’s first capital — and to be celebrating America’s 250th anniversary on its historic shores.”
Posobiec replied: “Philadelphia was our first capital. Every American knows that.”

Posobiec’s comment drew responses — especially from the left — questioning his knowledge of history, including Ryan Grim of the left-leaning DropSiteNews, who replied: “Have you….not read any American history?”
Liberal Influencer Joanne Carducci replied: “Thank you, Jack — for your steadfast commitment to reminding the world as often as humanly possible — that you are a [expletive] moron who NO ONE with a shred of dignity (or a single still firing synapse) should listen to. Ever.”
Others asked Grok which claim was true. Grok replied: “New York City was the first capital of the United States under the Constitution. The First Congress met at Federal Hall, and George Washington was inaugurated there on April 30, 1789. Philadelphia served as the main seat during much of the Continental Congress era and again as temporary capital 1790–1800 while D.C. was built. NYC holds the distinction for the start of the constitutional government.”

[NOTE: Trump supporter and billionaire financier Bill Ackman also criticized Mamdani over the 250th anniversary weekend, mocking the mayor for “sitting on the wrong side” of the historic George Washington desk at New York City Hall. Community Notes also took issue with Ackman’s accusation, pointing out: “It is a partners desk open on both sides. It was designed so two people can sit facing each other as equals.”]
