Man, 50, killed in country road crash leaving two others with critical injuries

A man has died and two others are fighting for their lives after car crash in Scotland.
The two-vehicle collision, which involved a black Vauxhall Vectra and a white Citroen Dispatch, occurred at around 7.35pm on Saturday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road, near Lochfield, Lochmaben.
Three casualties were urgently transported to a nearby hospital by emergency personnel.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Vauxhall, a 50-year-old man, passed away a short time after arrival.

The remaining two victims, a 67-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman who were in the Citroen, are still in hospital in a serious condition.
Crash scene investigators closed the roadway for roughly eight hours to conduct a thorough examination of the site.
The A709 was officially reopened to traffic at around 3.30am on Sunday.
Sergeant Wayne Carnochan said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died at this time.
‘Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything around this time to contact us.
‘In addition, anyone with relevant dash-cam footage is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist.’
Police Scotland have launched a full investigation into the crash and are actively seeking information from the public.
