A Berwyn man has been charged in a crash this past weekend that killed one tollway worker and hospitalized two others, according to the Illinois State Police.
Paul Ong, 37, faces a felony count of aggravated driving under the influence involving death, police said.
The three tollway workers had been filling potholes in the southbound lanes of I-294 north of Devon Avenue at 4:26 a.m. Saturday when one of them was struck by a vehicle, police said. All three were taken to a nearby hospital. The worker who was struck died. The others suffered “non-life threatening injuries,” police said.
The worker who died was identified as Calvin L. Holley, 52, of the Dunning neighborhood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
